On July 28th, part of the LIFE INFUSION project team visited the IRTA facilities in Cabrils (Spain) to see how the agronomic tests are performing.
As we explained in the previous piece of news, the first phase of the tests on the sanitized and stabilized extract from the tAnMBR are finished, but other tests are currently in process and about to start.
To start we could see how tomatoes are growing up with the irrigation with the reclaimed water in ¼ proportion mixed with well water. In this regard, problems with the pH regulation difficulted the growing of the tomatoes, but after the necessary adjustments the situation has been reversed.
Although it is still early to extract conclusions, the trials have shown a general tendency towards smaller tomatoes compared with the total well water irrigation but better results in quality parameters as the sweetness.
To continue the team went back to the IRTA facilities to attend to the LIFE INFUSION online technical meeting with the rest of the consortium, where we could follow the progress of the project in its different actions.
Finally, the visit carry on visiting the IRTA laboratories, where our colleagues IRTA colleagues explained the analysis that can be performed in situ and other innovation projects in which IRTA is participating.
