Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals. Over the past decades, the global community has made a lot of effort in inspiring and engaging women and girls in science.
In order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the United Nations General Assembly declared 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (UN, 2015).
In LIFE INFUSION project, a very good synergy between science and women is achieved. Not only are the 52% of the people involved in the project women, but also the 74% of they have scientific training. Thus, the Infusion technical team is made up of women experts in the fields of Agricultural Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Environmental Science and Engineering.
Taking advantage of this day, we would like to thank the fantastic research and innovation work that the entire Infusion team is developing, but specially the women behind the project. Likewise, we would like to encourage all women and girls who are keen on science and technology to train in these fields.
