The Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) has recently participated as an interested party in the last follow-up meeting of the European CITISYSTEM project for supporting cities in sustainable bio-based systemic change, which is part of the European Union Interreg subsidy program. This meeting of partners and interested parties took place in Mechelen, Flanders (Belgium) between April 24th and 26th.
The objective of the CITISYSTEM project is to increase the circularity of resources in cities of different European regions. For this reason, the IRTA, taking advantage of the communication and dissemination activities of the CITISYSTEM project, organised by the Catalan partner Centres de Recerca de Catalunya (CERCA), presented the LIFE INFUSION project in Barcelona, focusing on the viability of using nutrients and reclaimed water from the effluents generated in the LIFE INFUSION pilot for horticultural production.
