LIFE INFUSION progress during February 2022 include:
- Bench scale tests: The operation of stripping and thermophilic AnMBR at bench scale has already finished for both Ecoparc 2 and COGERSA waste effluents. Moreover, Eurecat performed a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis to the membrane of the contactor unit in order to observe the resulting scaling. On the other hand, the laboratory team obtained the first results of the regeneration membrane. Although regeneration process showed an important increase of permeability, there was little effect on salt rejection. In order to performance filtration assays, Ecoparc 2 will send samples to the laboratory in the coming days.
- Maintenance actions in the Barcelona demosite: The Ecoparc 2 maintenance team is implementing the last required actions to start up the pilot. For instance, they are changing the boiler expansion vessel. The operation of the pilot is expected to start in the following weeks.
- Geotechnical study in Gijón demosite: A geotechnical study on COGERSA’s site where the LIFE INFUSION technology will be installed is necessary, since the area is bigger than expected. COGERSA stablished first contacts with engineering companies. COGERSA and Aqualia are trying to adjust the scope of the studies to make them more efficient.
Further progress is expected during next weeks. Don’t forget to visit the project website regularly to be aware of the last updates of the project!
